Fall Newsletter 2014

by Sleighbells on November 3, 2014

Greetings from the Farm:

Hope you are all having a wonderful Fall Season.  We are glad for the cooler temperatures.  We had a grand spooky Halloween season.  Lots of folks found lots of new offerings to scare and amuse.  We thank you for your support.  Now you will find the stockings are hung and the displays are full up with a dazzling array of Christmas products.  The holiday season has started for us and we look forward to seeing you soon, while our selection is at its peak.

Our annual Season Opener is this coming Friday, November 7th from 5 to 9 pm.  Our long time customers know it is always the first Friday evening of November.  Originally, we centered this celebration around the annual Department 56 announcement of retired products for the year.  We still acknowledge the retirement cycle.  We also celebrate  the start of our busy season.  We will have music by the “Dickens Carolers”.  There will be finger food, sweets and libations.  Several sales representatives from our manufactures will be on hand to discuss their products.  We always have great door prizes.  This year we will have Four – $25, Three – $50,  Two – $100 and One  – $200 gift certificates.  Reservations are not required.  Please come and join us to kick off the holiday season.

Our cafe is doing double duty thanks to efforts of Kyler, Nick and Connor.  In addition to being the place to catch a table to eat at during the weekends after Thanksgiving, it is also the place to find an incredible array of indoor/outdoor flags and lots of holiday prints and plaques, some of which light up.  We responded to your requests for more prints and we think you’ll like the wide selection.  Our flags come in 2 basic sizes, but there are some odd sizes also.  The themes include flowers, Americana, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Snowmen, UO, OSU, Seahawks, and everyday.  Some of the new fabrics they use wear for a long time, even in Northwest weather.   They can certainly add pizzazz to your porch, patio, driveway or vehicle.

Marji and Margaret have done a super job creating displays that showcase Autumn and T-Day.  Centerpieces by Ralph are abundant and beautiful.  Chocolate turkeys for your table add a nice touch.  Place-mates, napkins,  paper plates, salt and pepper shakers, serving pieces, candle holders, place cards, turkeys and Pilgrims are just some of the products that can help make your meal and season memorable.

Our candle section has been restocked and expanded to include new candles from “Cheerful Giver”,  “The Soap and Paper Co.”, “Illume Candles” and “McCall’s” jar candles.  The McCall jars can be hung by their handles giving them a bit more flexibility for display.  The Soap & Paper Factory candle has the best smell of a Christmas tree we have ever experienced.  Illume’s products come in beautiful cans concealing fantastic fragrances.  Cheerful Giver makes jar candles in snowman shapes and bee hives with delightful wafts of aroma.  The ever popular Yankee candles are stocked for the holidays. Root’s candles are available in at least a dozen styles and even more coloration and fragrances.  Root makes the best dinner (taper style) in the USA.  They are ones you see in quality photos.   We have added and relocated our candle rings to make them easier to see.  You will love the wide variety.

Debbie is back for the season making your favorite fudge.  Seasonal varieties now in stock include Marionberry, Pumpkin Pie, Apple Cider, Eggnog, and Peppermint.  The regular flavors are also available.

Paul Wyley from Newberg has created a regular jam and a pouring jam from a special variety of Marionberry that tops the taste chart.  Frontier soups flew off the shelf and more are on the way.  They freeze dry their ingredients and all you need to do is add water or chicken broth to have a tasty hot meal on these cool days.  GuiMauve Confections offer a variety of flavored marshmallows including: sea salt caramel, gingerbread, spiced pumpkin and more.  Black or Red, soft and chewy licorice from New Zealand will awaken your taste buds.  Cheese crackers and sticks from the Macy Co (not the Dept Store) are heaven in every bite.  Gummy Pandas from Bissingers will turn gummy haters into fans.  Cans of Tea from Harney and Son with blends that will tempt you to switch from coffee.  Please check these and all the other specialty foods we offer.  We try to find things that will make memorable eating occasions.

In our Sports area we have added a new statium seat ornament for pro and college teams.  We also have magnets and plaques for Oregon and Washington college teams and the Trailblazers and Seahawks.  The Ducks and Beavers have a new home in the sports area on some very cool yellow and orange trees.  Don’t forget the flags for these teams.

We received the Lenox “Frozen” ornament that we mentioned in the last newsletter and they going to be a sell out.  We also have back in stock the Jim Shore figures of Elsa and Anna.  They have been sold out for months.

Re-stocks of all our major lines have been completed and some items have already sold out in the Radko line and reorders have been made with some Department 56 Village items.  All the Department 56 midyear village pieces are now in stock and their packaging is striking.  The new haunted church in village Halloween is sold out until next year.  We have plenty of Downton Abbey on hand and the matching accessory.

Santa has set up his schedule and he will be here Friday, Saturday & Sunday after Thanksgiving and the next three Saturdays and Sundays.  That converts to Nov, 28, 29,30, Dec 6,7,13,14,20, & 21.  His hours are 11am to 4pm with a 30 minute break from 1:30 to 2:00pm.

Our favorite brass band, Portlands own, The Festival Brass, will entertain you outside from 11am to 2pm on Sat, Nov 29th, Sat, Dec 6th and Sun, Dec 14th. Mark your calendars.

Thanks ! Thanks ! Thanks!

In response to your request we have added many new items in most of our lines.  We try to make it easy for you to find the hard to find item.  We are always working toward that goal.  We also try to have the traditional items that are a part of your holidays season every year.  Some things never go out of style like silver tinsel, candles for pyramids (spinners)  and incense for smokers. Our selections this year is the best it has ever been.   Please let us know how we are doing.  Thanks for your support.  We hope to see you soon, maybe at the Season Opener.  Have a great holiday season with a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

With Warm Wishes From,                         Rob  and  the  Sleighbells Staff
